Gannon & Scott first began their relationship with the RI Coat Exchange in 2022. For over 25 years, the RI Coat Exchange has coordinated the November coat drive, trading in the commercial “Black Friday” tradition for a “Buy Nothing Day” initiative. Instead of shopping, Rhode Islanders in need are encouraged to visit the state house for free-of-charge winter wear.
John Antonacci, VP of Marketing at Gannon & Scott, recognized the importance of giving back to the community at this year’s drive. “We were happy to be even a small part of last year’s Coat Drive, and we jumped at the opportunity to do it again. The community and our employees have really rallied around the event, and we are ecstatic that the hundreds of pounds of items we collected are going to Rhode Islanders in need. We’ll be doing it again next year, so remember us when you’re cleaning out your closets!”
Those who were not able to attend the dropoff event are encouraged to bring winter wear to the Mathewson Street Church (134 Mathewson St, Providence, RI) Or Clothes to Kids RI (11 Commerce Way, Unit 3 Johnston, RI).
